I am often asked why I founded Marienfiguren.de and I always have to start with my grandmother.
I had a good relationship with my grandmother (she was 92 years old and died at home surrounded by her loved ones and not in a retirement home) and so she influenced me with her stories and her attitudes. I was particularly impressed by her pragmatic approach to life and her trust in God. She always said: "Sven, I'm 90 years old, my friends are all dead. The only friend I have left is God. Everyone else is too young. I used to smile, but only now do I begin to understand. When my grandmother died, she left me two beautiful statues of the Virgin Mary, I think I understood why I got them.
Some time passed, I got married and when we went to Portugal on our honeymoon, we also went to Fatima. After Lourdes, Fatima is one of the most important places of pilgrimage in the world. There I wanted to buy an additional statue of the Virgin Mary to the ones I had inherited. However, the statues there seemed a little overpriced to me and so I didn't buy one after all. I decided to buy a figurine when we got back. As I knew from the "Made in Italy" and "Made in China" signs that the figures did not come from Fatima.
When we were back in Germany, I searched the internet for suitable dealers and couldn't find a single German online retailer. And so I decided to open an online store myself to give everyone the opportunity to buy their figurine, rosary, cross or other devotional items at fair prices, no matter where they are.
This is how Marienfiguren.de came into being in January 2003.
We started exclusively with wooden figures from South Tyrol. After only a short time, we expanded our range to include other items and are still constantly expanding our range. We are on the road for you at many trade fairs to always find beautiful and unusual things.
Our many years of existence, our TOP ratings and our very low returns rate have made us a reliable mail order company since 2003!
