Our comment Vielen Dank für Ihre Bewertung. Diese Figur (wie alle anderen Holzfiguren) stammen aus Südtirol und kommen von traditionsreichen Holzschnitzern. Die kleineren Figuren sind im abgelagerten leichten Bergahorn geschnitzt, was ein sehr leichtes helles Holz ist. Diese Figuren sind definitiv aus Holz.

The attractive statue shows the patron saint of dentists and all those who suffer from toothache in a traditional pose: with large pliers holding a pulled tooth. This goes back to an old tradition. According to this, her teeth were knocked out during a persecution of Christians in the 3rd century. The crown on her head refers to later legends, according to which the virgin martyr is said to have been a noblewoman.

This item was made in the traditional Val Gardena valley in South Tyrol.
After the blank has been roughly pre-milled from high-quality mountain maple wood (for the smaller figures) or lime wood (for the larger figures), unless otherwise specified, it is finished by hand and lovingly hand-painted in the colored version.
This high-quality handwork is characterized by its special quality.

Mountain maple and lime wood are light wood types with very little grain.
