Our name days remind us of the saints we are named after. Günther comes from the strong, old name Gunther, which means fighting army in ancient Germanic. As a patron saint, it goes back to Gunther the hermit. He lived in Thuringia at the turn of the first millennium. At Christmas in 1005, the former count renounced worldly life, became a Benedictine monk and founded the Rinchnach monastery in the Bavarian Forest. His name day is October 9. Make a Günther very happy with this bronze picture.
