The depiction of the Merciful Jesus is closely based on the painting created by the Polish painter Adolf Hyła. It is the most popular version of the apparition of Jesus, based on the vision of St. Faustina. In her convent cell in 1931, Jesus commissioned the nun to have an image of his apparition painted. This was to bear the signature Jesus, I trust in you, as can also be read on this picture in beautifully curved lettering.
